Patrick studied Tai Chi with Gregory Fong, a Tai Chi teacher from Hong Kong, in Portland, Oregon for over 10 years between 1979 and 1990. He intensively studied the Yang style, some Chen style, Hsingi style, and Standing Meditation. Born on the Big Island, Patrick left at 11 years old for the Alaskan bush, where he lived in Naknick, Kodyac, Katsibue, and Nome. Beginning at age 16, he studied boat building, which eventually brought him to Tacoma, Washington to gain further expertise in wooden sail boat building at Bates College. After returning to Hawai’i in 1990, Patrick reconnected with a great uncle who had been raised in traditional Hawaiian ways, and was a native Hawaiian speaker. From him, Patrick learned much Hawaiian language and culture, from constructing nets to performing Hawaiian ceremony. Patrick now resides in South Kona with his wife (and founder) Linde.

Suzy was born and raised in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Her love of movement began at an early age in gymnastics, and then many years of dance. She then moved to Boulder, Colorado for college and fell in love with Colorado. She started practicing yoga in 2008 which eventually led her to the The Yoga Workshop, one of the oldest ashtanga studios in the United States. After spending 20 years in Colorado, she moved to the Big Island in October with her husband and lives on a coffee farm in South Kona. Suzy’s passion to share the connection of mind, body, and spirit with others is what led her to obtain her teaching certification. She wants people to feel welcome and for her classes to be accessible to everyone.
